Good afternoon.
I am a BIM Manager for a small building services consultancy in the UK.
As we are developing more BIM interoperability between our electrical engineers and the BIM process, we have come up against an issue with exporting IFCs to then import into Dialux.
Working on our larger schemes, Dialux is having problems reading the IFC models that we export. The largest of the schemes comes in at about 110mb model size, which Dialux can't seem to handle importing and crashes. This is a stripped out model, using the lowest detail setting in Revit exporter, with only the shell of the building shown to enable exterior lighting design.
We've had great success with smaller schemes and we are very pleased with the results and want to get this to work across the board.
I'm not experienced with Dialux and my although i understand what IFC is, it's not been a massive part of our workflows in the past so i've not come to know the best software to use when exporting IFC from revit.
We are currently using the inbuilt Revit 2023 IFC export tool.
We are only exporting the architects/landscape architects model.
IFC version 2x3.
Dialux version is: 5.12.0.5586
This is the basic outline of the export IFC workflow: https://help.bimtrack.co/hc/en-ca/articles/360041522712-Export-a-Revit-Model-to-IFC
If there is a good piece of software that can export the IFC efficiently and to a smaller size, what changes can we make to our workflow to make this work?
Any help would be very much welcomed.
