Photogrammetric objects in DIALux

Best reply by DIALux Support (Tobias)

Hi Üllar,

It is possible to import a 3D model in .3DS or .SAT format into our evo software. You can also continue working directly with this 3D object, but there are limitations when working with a 3D object.

Our evo software cannot identify a building, storeys or rooms and therefore the documentation is a bit more difficult.

You must also pay attention to the complexity (number of surfaces) when importing a 3D object. Every surface of a 3D model has to be calculated separately and if the sum of the 3D models (and the surfaces) are too complex for the calculation or the performance of DIALux, it could give a lack of internal main memory in our DIALux software.

We would recommend every user to search for alternative 3DS objects with less surfaces. The key is to find a good compromise between a realistic visualization and moderate quantity of surfaces.

It is also possible to import an IFC model into our evo software. Maybe this is also an alternative for you.

So far, we have only implemented a beta version of the IFC import in our evo software. In our knowledge base, you will find helpful information regarding the requirements of a good IFC import:

Best regards

Tobias
