I used my X-mas vacation to play around in EVO and try to fake a TV/Monitor that looks like it is really "on".
This is the result of my test.
It´s not perfect, but it does the job.
As you can see, the monitor really is transmitting light.
How it´s done?
1. I edited an existing ldt of an flat lit lightsource with ldt-editor and changed the lenght and width of luminous area and casing to the size of monitor
2. created a surface in front of monitor and placed an imported texture on top surface (set rest to 100% transparency)
3. adjusted the transparency of texture (depends on brightness of texture)
4. Raytraced the scene
Maybe, some of you render freaks have use for this little tutorial ;)
