This is still possible if you are in the floor plan view and on the upper storey.

do you mean previous functionality has been removed ?

Problem with luminaire placement in DIALUX 14.0

Hello,

In the latest version of DIAlux, the luminaires don’t appear when you place them. I’ve noticed that this issue is present in the latest update, version 14.0.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

This makes it very difficult to place luminaires when working on IFC files.

We are not aware of this issue.

If it can be reproduced in a specific IFC file, please send the file along with a brief description of the error to our support team ([email protected]).

Marisa

Gracias.

very slow light scene calculation

i imported ifc model of my steel beam building (2000 m2), rather simple model, but calculation for separate rooms is so annoyingly long.

I even chose to calculate only active lighting scene but it takes like 40 -50 minutes for room 12 sq. meters. Looks like dialux is always calculating all scenes even if i chose only active lighting scene.

Is it possible to do something to get faster calculation of lighting scenes?

Marisa

IFC problems is it architects or Dialux

I would say 95% of models I receive either as .RVT or .SKP wont go into Dialux as an .IFC for reasons that never seem very clear but indicate some kind of problem with the original model.

I cant believe the architects are building files that are of such low quality. But even if they are, they are not going to make major modifications to their filles or workflow to just allow the lighting design team to use the files in Dialux.

With the time constraints on projects trying to work in the BIM environment in Dialux is becoming unsustainable.

Is anyone else having better result?

Hello,

If I’ve understood the problem correctly, I think that if you convert it to IFC4 and it works, the IFCspace file should appear when you import it; if this isn’t the case, the IFC file is unusable.

Hi yeah that is right we will typically receive a revit file or a sketchup file depending on the clients and they look ok in Sketchup or Revit. We then export them to IFC the problems start, we are not going to spend time modifying the architects file and if we are involved at early stages for concept possibly the architects file isnt a completely finished construction ready model but this is what we have and we need to show progress in the lighting design to then feed back into the model and the architects model development. DIalux at the moment with the IFC file import makes this process very difficult or impossible.
